What Happened Inside
Courtroom Two
Earlier this year, a 57-year-old woman attending a court proceeding in Lancaster County suffered a sudden cardiac event. Here's what happened next:
Woman suffers cardiac emergency
She became unresponsive during a court proceeding.
Deputy recognizes distress
Deputy Camren Ney, assigned to courtroom security, immediately rushed to assist.
Additional deputies respond
Sergeants and deputies arrived within moments.
CPR begins
They assessed the situation and began lifesaving measures.
AED deployed
They performed multiple rounds of CPR and delivered three AED shocks.
EMS arrives
Deputies continued care until emergency medical personnel arrived.
Life saved
Despite multiple episodes of cardiac arrest, she survived and continues her recovery.
Quick thinking, teamwork, and training made all the difference.
Their actions reflect the many responsibilities carried out by Pennsylvania's Deputy Sheriffs. In addition to providing courtroom security and law enforcement services, they are often called upon to respond to emergencies where calm decision- making and professional training can mean the difference between life and death.
